Appvia provided a three-step solution:
1
An AWS landing zone implementation
That provided the framework for central security policies, audit, cloud account isolation and cost management
2
A Developer Platform (Wayfinder)
That could integrate into the landing zone architecture and provide their existing Dev and DevOps team platform capabilities that reduced cloud operations and streamlined development
3
On-going support and maintenance
Of both the Developer platform and the landing zone implementation
The project began with cross-functional workshops that gathered all technical and business requirements. This initial phase ensured all stakeholders were aligned and that the platform's design would meet their specific needs.
Following this, the next two weeks of delivery focused on the AWS Landing Zone that was delivered using infrastructure-as-code and put in place compliance best practices, security policies, network architecture, cost management, and scalability. The deployment of the landing zone provided the foundations for the Internal Developer Platform to integrate into, simplifying the automation and deployment templates.
In the final two weeks, Appvia implemented Wayfinder which automated and productionised their cloud infrastructure. This tool enabled developers to easily deploy application across multiple environments, manage and create their Cloud dependencies without needing deep cloud infrastructure knowledge or assistance from the central team.
By providing developers with a simplified cloud experience it enabled their tight 5 week timescales to be met and gave the business an instantly robust, flexible and integrated platform. This provided developers with the focus they required to modernise the business applications whilst their DevOps team provided platform capabilities.
Throughout the process, Appvia provided hands-on training and support, ensuring that TEG's team was fully equipped to manage the new platform independently. This comprehensive approach not only addressed TEG's immediate challenges but also ensured that their platform was secure, scalable, and efficient, setting the stage for future growth and innovation.
This engagement was time-sensitive and provided a well-architected developer platform within a 5 week period with a focus on upskilling existing teams on Wayfinder and the landing zone.
To facilitate a smooth transition, Appvia provided hands-on training by pairing with TEG’s team during the delivery phase, ensuring they were comfortable with the new platform. The partnership between Appvia and TEG created a smooth handover, with Appvia’s experts readily available to assist with complex issues and provide ongoing guidance, empowering TEG to manage their platform effectively and confidently.
Appvia provided robust support throughout the project, ensuring seamless platform adoption and operation for TEG. Third-line support was put in place to address any critical issues promptly and maintain a high-quality, reliable and secure platform. This support included continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and updates to the platform, ensuring it remained compliant with industry standards.

Appvia enabled the timelines of the project to be expedited by enabling the Platform team to provide infrastructure and a consistent way of working in the Cloud. This helped drive standardisation across how TEG is delivering Cloud infrastructure across their applications.
By leveraging the Cloud landing zone, combined with the automation of Wayfinder; TEG has the ability to create multiple environments easily and no longer need to maintain custom deployment scripts. Developers can simply use Wayfinder's automation to keep the developer experience simple and consistent.
This has provided TEG with a cloud-native approach that will enable future development and modernisation across the organisation.
